We loved being around each other, but over the course of our relationship he would lie about the stupidest things...and just not tell me the truth. He told me that he would never hurt my feelings, but lying to me doesn't make things any better. He also told me while we were talking that he wasn't looking for a girlfriend. Why would he tell me that he doesn't want a girlfriend, and then two weeks later he has a girlfriend?

You cannot hold a man's word forever.
They are only valid there and then .
His words are not cast into stones.

I wouldn't believe anyone who said he or she has never ever lied. But people don't usually lie as frequently as this guy did, or over those things. I think he lied to you because of his own personal issues. You can't think everyone is just like him.
He was a liar. Don't waste another minute of your time and move on.

I hate to say this but if he told you he doesnt want a girlfriend then got a girlfriend straight away, it looks like he just didnt want to lead you on. He didnt want you to think he wanted you to be his girlfriend but if he'd said it like that it would've hurt you so he let you think its not personal he just doesnt want ANYONE to be his girlfriend.
Keep busy and move on, if he lied to you a lot he's more hassle than he's worth.
