A reader, anonymous, writes (18 December 2007):

Could it be that at school you are comparing yourself to other people and you think how great they look - so you concentrate on your bad points?? That's one suggestion.

Or perhaps you see yourself at home and see someone who you think looks great. When you get to school you look in a mirror expercting something phenomenal and then the wind has messed up your hair a bit, or you've creased your skirt a bit, etc. so you concentrate on the points that weren't as perfect as before - which is basically just looking at the bad points again.

Perhaps it is that you feel great when you get up in the morning - (I wouldn't, I'm not really a morning person!) - so you look in the mirror and you look great. Then at school you have a rubbishy first couple of lessons, you feel down, and you look in the mirror and you think that you don't look so great.

I think that perhaps you just need to start being more confident in yourself and your appearance - and thinking about being more positive in general!!!

Hope you sort this out!! x x x

eyeswideopen agony auntYep it's probably the fluorescent lighting at school. Very unflattering but it's shinning on everyone else as well so I wouldn't worry about it.

Abacadaba agony auntit could be lighting, the light could bring out 'flaws' in your make up etc, natural light really brings out your skins appearance. Happens all the time to me ill look in a mirror and think 'god my skin looks bad' but hey, happens to everybody now and again.
