A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

hi i have been with my bf for 2 months and we are both 16.

for some reason i get so emotional around him. for example, he is always so kind and respectful to me and when we were in a conversation he just said a little comment that i found upsetting. (he just took the micky of how i said a word for a joke, not trying to hurt my feelings or anything). anyway i got upset about it and actually started crying! i tried to hide my face and just prentended i was going to get a drink so he didnt know i was upset.

that has happened a few times now.

why do you think im so emotional when if one of my mates had said a comment like that i would of just shrugged it off and wouldnt of cared?

A female reader, lesbo United States +, writes (2 March 2007):

have you had bad relationships in the past? if so you may not fully trust him and are expecting him to do some thing wrong. in witch case you would pick out little arguments as a way of trying to bring him down,so to speak, so he would be defensive instead of aggressive. this is a trust issue and will come in time if it is the case. other wise you are probably just annoyed by him.
