Is there a stretch or something I can do to solve this? I'm only 23. I would appreciate any advice because it bothers both of us that we're limited in that way..he ends up doing most of the work if you know what I mean. Thanks! Reply to this Question Share |

AthenOwl is verified as being by the original poster of the questionTo Chachacha: I was told to be wary of that machine in the gym ..by a female coach. She said that women can use it,but should be careful not to damage their hips (I don't remember exactly what she said but she used some medical terms I'm not familiar with)...that's why I was concerned about this pain. BUT...yOU'RE right about the alternate position with me facing out and my legs over his. He loves that..I just need to stop being so self conscious about it. To cd206..He's narrower than I am...It's just my weight being put on an area not used to being pulled in that direction. Thanks everyone anyway.

The Hip Adductor machines in the gym would probably help - the ones where you have to push the weights to open your legs.
Alternatively, just try some other positions / change positions frequently - you can be on top without opening your legs that wide - if you lie on top of him with you legs closed, i.e. your legs ontop of his. You get to "do the work" in this position too.

I'm guessing you're of quite a narrow build and he's quite wide set? I'm not particularly narrow but I once had this problem with a guy too. Squatting and holding for a count of ten repeatedly helps but you will feel it the day after for the first couple of times you do it. Other things that work is facing forward with your legs stretched and leaning to one side and holding and then the other repeatedly. They should help loosen your hip and waist muscles so that pain is no longer an issue.
