Sometimes it takes me up to an hour to fall asleep whereas some days I fall asleep in 20 minutes...I slept fine for 18 years its only in the past 2 years I have found it difficult to get to sleep and I get stressed really easily..then it sometimes gets worse when I don't slee (vicious circle) I have had a lot of emotional problems the past 2 years..could this be why I feel drained?i do drink alcohol at the weekends but I don't go overboard like some of my friends do... and I could improve my diet a bit- but overall its not terrible. It sounds like you could possibly have clinical depression. If you are having any mania with this (hyperactivity) then it's possible that you are bi_polar. You should consult with your medical professional. You may need to have meds and /or therapy. You should never drink because it can cause mood swings and depression also.
Try keeping the same sleep patterns by going to bed at a certain time each night. Stay up in the daytime if possible without napping. It can cause a fluxuation of your sleep patterns when you vary your sleep habits. If you need to rest and just can't go without it let it be short power naps.
Try light therapy. Getting out in the sun can help or use artificial light in a room where you can easily get the view of the lighting. Take up a hobby you will enjoy that gets you out in the public. Staying home alone can worsen the feeling of sadness that you are experiencing.
Eat good nutritional foods. If you don't feel hungry try to eat something anyway to keep up your strength. Don't try to diet when you are like this. Talk power walks. Get your circulation going. Proper diet and exercise can make a big difference in your moods.
Confide in someone who is willing to listen. A close friend or family member. By seeing a doctor you can get more insignt on what might be going on in your body. The brain has many nuerotransmiters that will affect your moods. The chemicals in the brain cause all sorts of problem when they overload or don't supply the correct amount needed for the body to function properly. Somnetimes medicine will help. Sometimes phsycotherapy is needed to find the underlying cause.
Don't put it off, go to your doctor and get well. Prayer is a good way to take the edge off of things. Best wishes.
God bless,

I would go see a doctor and get a checkup. You could be suffering from mononulceosis (see link; http://bodyandhealth.canada.com/channel_condition_info_details.asp?disease_id=75&channel_id=1020&relation_id=10884)
