Dear aunties, you have alrready helped me a lot but i still have problems that i need your advice..my problem is this. One of my friend's wife whom i got very close to his husband who is like a brother to me has spread bad rumors about me and even insulted me and my husband in front of others. I often told her that this is only friendship and nothing beyond that, but she refuse to believe it. I really hate to give up our bond, so was my hubby..what i cant understand is that my mother-in-law became friendly with her. I thought my mom loved us very much, but why did she came close to them?. This woman had already insulted us several times..

Maybe your Mum is trying to help in some way. As the old saying goes "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", maybe she thinks she will be able to somehow control the damage of this person by being close to her. Or somehow smooth things over, it's one explanation. I don't know why she is getting close to her, have you asked her why? In the end she can be friends with whomever she wants to, regardless of how anyone feels about it, but I think you should ask her why she is getting closer to this woman.
