I asked him why this happened and if I did something wrong, but he said it's not me and doesn't know. I know for definite that it's not because he isn't attracted to me nor because I'm rubbish in bed. could it have something to do with the fact that he had a serious 4 year relationship some years ago and and it feels weird for him to be closely and emotionally intimate like that again?Thank you x

Maybe he doesn't like a girl taking control and feels emasculated when you do? That would explain why he couldn't keep it up.. If he hasn't had that before with a girl taking control, then I don't know.

Sometimes it happens. It could have been a millions reasons (tired, medicine, alcohol, sickness), but trust me, it had nothing to do with you. Trust me.
Good Luck!!

Sometimes guys just have erection problems, something on his mind, he's not in the mood, he is tired.
But it's more likely because he's in bed with a girl that he doesn't love and sex without love isn't that appealing to him. Sure you are pretty, sexy and attractive, but some people need more than that to get aroused. He's had love before and when you and him started sex, he probably is remembering and regretting.
He might not be FWB material. Sounds like he needs a proper girlfriend.

it happens.
it's not a reflection on you and I would NOT make a big deal about it.
sometimes my partner loses his erection even if he really wants to be with me... he's tired, he has gas, he drank too much, I'm coughing and it's not attractive... he's thinking of the bills and not the activity at hand...
if it continues consistently then I'd maybe be concerned but a one time thing... let it go.... truly.
