Why did Joe's attitude change and why is he so negative now?

Well. There's this boy I like. Let's call him Joe. We started talking a month ago and we have a lot in common. He makes me feel comfortable around him. The problem is I don't know if he likes me. We spent the last two weeks talking nonstop on the phone.

Since Sunday, he's been acting strange though. He'll talk to me, but it's never nice. He says the meanest things, hates it when I touch him, doesn't want me sitting with him at lunch (he sits alone some days. I used to sit with him too and we'd enjoy it), and everything I say seems to be the wrong thing. It wasn't this way at all. Anyway, my friend says to give him space. But he's the one who always calls me and talks to me.

I still want to be able to talk to him like in the beginning. He only treats me this way. You may say it's because he likes me, but I honestly don't believe it. If you see the way he talks to me now, you'd see it too. It's awkward, uncomfortable, and now he tells me nothing but negative things.

maybe I don't need him, but letting go of people is much harder for me than working problems out. I'd prefer to work it out with joe.
