 Maybe he was embarrassed that he didn't finish off and didn't want to ask you to do it for him.
I unfortunately suffer from not being able to finish 95% of the time even if I have a woman doing it for me and I'd imagine they take offence because they can't make it happen so I just usually do it myself or sometimes not at all. May not be the same for your bf but it's a thought.

Usually someone with a high sex drive :) doesn't mean anything, he was happy & wanted to re live and enjoy the moment...

 I would guess he didn't have an orgasm, so was "finishing off" while you were in the bathroom.
If he masturbates a lot, he could have become "unfamiliar" with the sensation of penetrative sex and actually need a hand to finish (pardon the pun).
