What that means its that what matters is your attitude. You've already got the looks, but not probably the attitude to go with it. Confidense in one self would desplay and spread towards others and make others be attracted to you.
In the other hand, the girls may be intimidated by you. They might actually you're out of THEIR league and no chance to get you, so they don't even try to save them the humiliation.
Also, have you tried to persue the girls? There are lots of girls who still believe that guys should take the first step, even if their feelings for them are strong. Probably you didn't make yourself too clear.
But in the other hand, it may just be bad luck. There have been really good looking, all-around nice guys that don't end up having girlfriends in high school for some odd reason. Just wait until you get to college, and you'll probably hit the jackpot there.
