 Yeah talk to the boy ask him to go for a coffe with you and relax it is not important at least your life doesn't depend in such iddle things if it works and you feel like it it' s ok if not just move on

 This seems to be a very tangled web; I think the first thing you need to do is stop relying on third parties for the information here and maybe try and find out what is going on for yourself. The thing about third-party information is that while its not always inaccurate it can often be.
Its good that he is paying you more attention than your friend but the question I would ask is what kind of attention is this?? Is he flirting?? Making alot of eye contact?? What is his body language like?? I think the answer to your question is in the answer to those...
