Once ovulation has happened and fertilisation has happened the body releases a hormone called progesterone. This stops the ovaries from ovulating because there is already an egg in the womb that has been fertilised =]

reader, anonymous, writes (14 November 2008): I'd say that she stops ovulating. As far as I can remember, once an egg has been fertilized, a hormone is released that prevents ovulation.
