Now I can't even come to class without getting nervous and worrying about my stomach making noises. I can't even concentrate and pass anything because I get so nervous and I get nervous everyday I can't come myself down about it at all. It's just so embarrassing to me because people look or laugh because it sound like I passed gas. But I figured it out why my stomach does it, it's because I'm so nervous and I make it because it's all I think because I never use to worry about this. One time I went in class and thought nothing about it and it made no noise. But I just get so nervous and think of the embarrassment and my stomach goes crazy. I tried to relax and think of other stuff but sometimes it fells because I be nervous out my mind. Its effecting my life bad because of how nervous i be. What can I do to stop this and boost my mind not to think of it? Reply to this Question Share |

We finally found out it was mostly caused by eating certain foods. Mainly dairy products. Last night was a case in point. He eat a piece of cream cake before bedtime and the noises started big time! So try and avoid anything dairy just before class, it might help. Also, he finds when his stomach starts growling of its own accord. If he eats something it quietens down. Its easy to say, stop worrying about it. But i know that doesnt help. Maybe next time it happens make a joke of it. Its far better to have people laugh with you than at you. So turn it into a joke by saying its your moms cooking or something like that. Im sure she wont mind x

It could be this, or it could be your diet. Try taking beano (gas ex or gas pills help, but beano seems easiest), before you eat, and try to take a deep breath, and think of other things before your class starts. Try to relax. I know it can be embarassing and stressful--when I was in high school i had gas during a SILENT timed write...it sucked! I didnt know about beano/IBS details then, either. You may also grow out of it.However, if you also feel your anxiety causes more problems, consider seeing a counselor, too, bc anxiety, when its extreme, can cause you stress in other job/social settings later on in life. Best to deal with it now, bc from what it sounds like, before this happened, you were fine/focused/and not so stressed.Good luck, and I hope this helps a bit =)p.s. Also, if you have an MP3 player, try listening to music before class to soothe you, or read, or do something soothing to you to calm yourself down. Dont psyche yourself out hun =) Best of luck =)

I think it's something you might just have to wait and grow out of. When I was younger I would get so nervous about certain things that I would get the runs! Go see a doctor if you feel that it's affecting your life that negatively, he may be able to give you something for your anxiety.

You may have irritable bowel syndrome. I would talk to your doctor and try taking a pro-biotic if she/he thinks this is ok for you to do. Eating a diet higher in whole grain fiber may also help as well as drinking more water.
As for the nervousness, you may be swallowing air due to this and this makes everything worse. I would try some meditation techniques to try and help the anxiety.
Are you eating properly? Eating 3-4 smaller meals a day can help.
If you're embarrassed and people laugh just tell them you it's your stomach grumbling not you passing gas!
Good luck.
