Hi, i'm a bit confused. I know there are lots of guys who will gladly kiss a girl when she's drunk becuase i suppose it's easier for them to be taken advantage of and all that... however, when a guy you know says he won't kiss you because you are drunk, what does that mean? Does it just mean he doesn't like you or could it be he doesn't want you to fall under the impression that he is taking advantage of you?

laurie-loo agony auntthis means this man has respect for you, whilst alot of men would grab any chance to take advantage and kiss a women. this one didnt. on the other hand if you like this man and asked to kiss him, maybe he held back as he thought you only wanted to kiss him as you were drunk. i think you should talk to him and tell him how you feel. he seems like a true gentleman. good luck xxx

That means he is nice man. In other words, a gentleman. Most guys would love to take advantage of a drunk woman, but it's not right. That means the guy (the gentleman) respects you, and knows wrong from right. Good for you, for finding this man! haha.

Hello, I mostly agree with the other responses. However there is one other explanation and that is maybe he doesn't like the smell of alcohol. I am one of several people who become ill just from the aroma alone. Maybe he is the same?

A female reader, TasteofIndia United States +, writes (26 May 2007):

TasteofIndia agony auntHey sweetness,

It means that he's a gentleman! Oooh, girl, I'm jealous. Clearly you've found a keeper who respects you enough to wait to make his move until you're sober. He doesn't want to take advantage of you, he wants to make sure that you WANT to kiss him, that you're ready t o kiss him and that it's not just the alcohol giving you false feelings.

I'm sure he also doesn't want to get hurt... no one wants t o kiss a great girl and then the next morning when she's sobered up she says:

"We did WHAT last night?"

or

"Oh my God, I kissed you? Ewww!"

Both humiliating. He sounds like the kind of guy you want to be dating. He's a good catch!

Alright sweetness,

xxIndia

A male reader, Frank B Kermit Canada +, writes (26 May 2007):

Frank B Kermit agony auntIt means that he would kiss you if you were sober. Men that do not want to kiss a drunk girl either do it as a matter of principle (She doesn't have to be drunk to be with me), or legal issue (be accused of taking advantage of her). Consider him a non-violent man...a keeper, and value him until the day you die.

A female reader, Country Woman United Kingdom +, writes (26 May 2007):

Country Woman agony auntSome guys are more moral than others and this guy obviously thinks that a girl who is drunk is not as attractive as one who is sober and knows what she is doing.

We can all look through the drunken state at someone and think they are gorgeous.

It takes a lot more willpower and self control to stay sober and then take a look at the same person.

This guy just wants to be with someone who is not a lush and that is a nice thing not awful.

Try seeing him when you are on the cokes or non alcoholic drinks, we are never quite as brave when we are sober but see how it goes.

Take care.

A female reader, howcomehoney France +, writes (26 May 2007):

howcomehoney agony auntThat's good. People tend to do things they regret when they're drunk, and your friend probably saw it in that light - especially if he's just a friend. When I'm drunk, I get quite kissy, and sometimes end up kissing people I shouldn't.

Wait until you're sober. If you still want to kiss him, try again. It's the only way to know.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (26 May 2007):

You shouldn't kiss anybody when you're drunk.

If you like this guy, and you want his respect you might want to only drink when he's around, and only after the two of you have had that talk that commits you guys to taking a swing at the relationship pinata.

A male reader, DV1 United States +, writes (26 May 2007):

DV1 agony auntIt definitely means that he's trying NOT to take advantage of you. If this guy is a guy that you like or love, kiss him when you're ready. He definitely deserves a thank you and a hug for respecting you.
