A reader, anonymous, writes (31 July 2006):

The best way to avoid embarassment is not to over-do it. Don't act completely out of your normal habits to impress someone, because they can tell, and that makes you look foolish. You have to be yourself and be comfortable doing so. Eye contact is always huge. A lingering gaze can be the start of something major. Body language also sends out a strong message. If you stand uncomfortably, leaning away or with your arms crossed, you send a message that says "not interested!" You have to be comfortable in your own skin and allow yourself to just appear interested overall. Leaning a bit closer is always key in letting someone know you're interested in what they have to say. Also, the occassional touch of the other person's arm during conversation isn't a bad way of saying "I like you!" Again, just don't over-do these things and you should be able to have anyone eating from the palm of your hand. Good luck! Stay sexy!
