Quick question - A guy just asked me out, I said no and made a bit of a mess of explaining why (basicaly I just wasn't intrested)

Whats a good way of rejecting an invitation to date? One that doesn't involve shocked babbling on my part please!

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 March 2012):

Honesty is the best policy, just tell them, "thanks, but I'm not interested". I would always rather someone be honest and say they aren't interested than lying to me about why they don't want to date me. Most people feel the same way.

fi_the_tree agony auntI find just being straight with someone is the best way. If you weren't interested in going on a date with someone, just say 'no thank you, but I'm not interested in dating right now'

Yes it may suck and you might feel bad, but people prefer someone being direct.
