writes: hey everyone, again... im just chilling out in my room and i cant sleep! everytime i get settled down the bby kickes, or moves or idk, i just cant seem to fall asleep. and it really got me thinking about birth and labor. i know its going to hurt, thats like common sense, but is there any way to make it less painful or prepare for it in any way other then those dumb breathing classes that dont do antything!!!! they are just like HEEE HEEE WHOOOO and its annoying! i am planning on going all natural because of my young age i dont want to have any more complications, a few of my friends (who have had bbys) told me to go jogging and that will create less pain and easier contractions, well my best friend in the whole world, who is a boy, told me to stop jogging that its bad for the bby and can cause trama. i really dont trust my doctor at all and go to him with as little things as possible, so if any of you know.... which one do i do for easier labor?? PLEASE HELP!

Again, I would NOT recommend running! Too much jarring, like by jogging or high impact arobics or anything where you are bouncing around is NOT good for the baby or the pregnancy. You need to do LOW impact excercise. Walking, swimming, LOW impact pregnancy designed arobics, or using an eliptical at the gym are all good exercises when pregnant, but NOT running!

im_a_dummy is verified as being by the original poster of the questionwell like, another reason i dont want an epidural is cuz i dont do needles very well at all, and the scent of a hospital makes me really feel like im about to pass out, and i think if i have to be in there, and i am going to have to have iv's and shit, the less needles the better because ill start stressing the hell out, and like for the anonymous person, yes its my first baby, god idk wat i would do if i had more kids and i was only 15. anyway... thanks for your guys's help. i have been running a lot i ran about 5 miles, well jogged it yesturday... is that gunna do anything?????im really sorry i keep annoying you guys, im just like really scared.

Hey girl! I know we've been talking through messages, but breathing through contractions do help. Trust me. It does sound stupid, but it works. You have to breath through contractions. So the baby can get oxygen.
Don't be to set in the natural birth. You are young. You may get there and the pain may be far to intense. If you need medication, get it. That's what its there for!

While exercise is good for you and can help make you labor easier it needs to be low impact exercise. Jogging is not a good idea. Walking or low impact arobics in a class designed for pregnant women is a much better idea. The breating may seem stupid and in some ways it is, but it can help. With my first I was trying to do the breathing and it was not helping at all. But once I got to the hospital and a nurse started helping with the breating, guiding me, breathing with me and giving me focus, the pain became greatly diminished. I thought they had already given me some drugs and that they were kicking in, but they hadnt. It turned out that just with help so that I was doing the breathing properly the pain disapaited! I got the drugs anyway and had a beautiful, perfect birth. My second one, however, I had to be induced and did not have a good epidural and that one was much more painful!

reader, anonymous, writes (10 January 2009): I've had three children, three different ways. The easiest one was the second one, but mainly because it was just 13 months after the first. I had no epidural, but just the normal stuff they give you, and i felt everything. For my first child, I had an epidural, very early. i didn't feel a thing. the drawback was, when it came time to push, i couldn't do a great job, and so it took longer. the baby ended up being a forceps delivery and he had a cone head for a while--not abnormal. my third child was a little different. She came seven years after the second child. i tried to have a normal delivery, but it was a stressful pregnancy, and labor was too painful because i was so tense. so i opted for the epidural. however, once the epidural was in place, she was ready to come out within 20 minutes, and the epidural wore off. she was the hardest of my deliveries, and the most painful. what all this means is, if you go into your delivery under a lot of stress, it will most likely be very difficult. however, if you practice your breathing and be relaxed, it should go fairly easy. If this is your first child, brace yourself for a long night! Good luck with your delivery, and enjoy the fantastic new life that awaits you.
