Don't act superfriendly with a smile if that's not your true personality... you'll give a different, sexier impression if you just gaze back for as long as you feel like (don't count or follow some strange male pickupahottie regime) and then go over.

Keep looking. Don't stare wide-eyed or anything, just keep looking, taking in the details of her face, and smile after a few seconds. Raise your eyebrows a bit when you smile or it looks fake. If she smiles back, walk over and say "Hi." Just don't be the first to look away.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 December 2010): Yeah if they look back at you then keep looking count to 3 and smile at her. Really smile, a happy smile, one that makes your eyes smile too. If you know what I mean. Practice in the mirror if you have to. I told a friend of mine to do this before and he smiled but his eyes remained leery so he looked like a psycho that wanted to head butt them or something.
Just smile at her and if she smiles back then you're sorted. The next step is to find an excuse to talk to her and ask her out.
