writes: Hi,i have a slight problem well there's a girl i like called Kate she's reeli nice and pleasent to talk to and i got her number the other day and we've text each other a couple of times and she's like the ebst friend of my ex gf's cousin but my ex is fine about it all. however she split up with her bf around the same time i split up with my gf and her and her ex still talk abit they're friends like, however i was chatting to him last night and he admitted he wants her bk so much and knows me and kate are good friends like and has asked me to try and convince her to get bk with him but he has no idea i fancy her either but then he said kate made it clear to him that she doesn't like him in that way anymore and that they're only going to be friend and that's it and she did say to me also that she's over it now and has moved on, but he doesn't know that i know that and i really dunno what to do because i truly like her myself and would like to ask her out.any advice welcome,cheers.

reader, anonymous, writes (10 October 2006): Well, I don't know how to offer advice like this, but if I were in your shoes, I would try to mediate her ex getting back together with her - despite what she says - whether she wants him back or not. The thing is, how come her ex talks with you? What is the deal with that?
Others may suggest to you to fight for her - it's all fair game supposedly anyway. However, what do you see? Do you see him as being a good match for her? Where do your principles/ethics stand in this?
