My assistant shredded all my papers and made reference to some of the documents. What if I did put them in there?! I have realised in the last two hours that he reads everything. I really expressed how I hate pornography and used some awful words. I really got it out! Shall I just totally make myself believe that I did not put them there....I think I did! Shall I just gracefully glide over the day? He is the most terrible gossip. AAArrrrrrgghh!

I know you may be mortified now, but if you really think of it - what actually was so bad? So you said you hated pornography and swore alot on paper? Big deal. Trust me on this, in a week's time it will be all forgotton about (on his part). Remember, if you know he is a gossip, most other people will have the measure of him too. If he does gossip and you get wind of it, then as he is your assistant, you are well within your rights to pull hm to one side and ask him about his views on discretion in the workplace!

Hi Anonymous,
Wow - that can be rather embarassing! But I don't think there's too much someone can say about what you've written. So you dislike porn. So what, you know? It's not like you wrote you're having an affair with someone at the office. There's really not much in what you wrote to gossip about...if your assistant even read what you wrote.
I wouldn't really worry too much about it. If people find out that you don't like porn, then I don't see how that could make you the talk of the office. And most people use curse words, too. So it wouldn't really be shocking to see them written on paper. (Maybe you wrote things other than just curse words, though?)
In any event - this will all blow over soon anyway. Office gossip never ends. Today it's your rant about porn. Tomorrow it's how someone come out of the closet. The next day it's how someone else is having an affair with the owner of the company.
Take care.

Hold your head up Sweetie, and act like nothing happened. They may be snickering behind your back but just act like you don't know what's going on. Don't grace it with a come-back, or explanation. You owe them nothing. So what if you said things about porn, if it helped you feel better, then it was useful. Most of what you said was probably true anyhow. Just go on with things and next time be extra careful with your paperwork. They will move on to something next week and forget all about this incident once something else more exciting comes along. Good luck!@\
