I call my boyfriend babe quite a lot (and no, it never crossed my mind babe is a pig) and hunni mainly. I call him gorgeous, or big boy (which he likes a lot).

A female reader, heartsick United Kingdom +, writes (5 February 2008):

I call my hubby 'babe' mostly, sometimes Honey, occasionally Sexy, Gorgeous or Handsome.

Depends on your relationship - it can sound a bit full-on if you say the wrong thing early on. But I think men like anything complimentary.

Babe is quite casual - don't think you could go far wrong with that one.

Midge agony auntBeing that my boyfriend is Scottish, they tend to call woman "hen". So he calls me Hen. Its a term of endearment, nothing more. I on the other hand call him "my love" or if I am angry with him, I call him by his name. Then he knows I am angry with him.

SamuraiRick agony auntExcuse me here...but to all the wonderful previous aunts...the question was posed by a girl wanting to know what she thinks GUYS like to be called.

Since I am a guy I will answer her question..as a guy, which I happen to be. My answer is just about anything...except for terms that are too cute..like sweetcheeeks, babycakes, cutiepie....I prefer the shorter terms like simply baby, honey, especially if your being called that in public places. We like being called nicknames and terms of endearment but nothing too embarrassing. I'm cool with just being called baby...and its very sexy hearing it from a girls lips.

Hi hunny,

Well babe was a pig so sometimes that doesnt go down to well, not with a few of my mates anyway love, I think as you get a girlfriend you will probably find your own term of endearment for her, ( nickname) it will be special to the both of you, as mine is for my fella and so on, personally I dont care what Im called as long as it isnt stupid :) Hope this helped babes :) love n hugs mandy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
