What kind of things would a desperate person do to break up a relationship short of breaking the law?

In a fictional setting of course, let's say you wanted your ex back so badly that it drove you to act in ways you never would normally. How would you sabotage his/her current relationship so you could have a chance of reuniting? What kind of things would a desperate person do to break up a relationship short of breaking the law? Or breaking it too much. Or does anyone have any examples of actual things people have done in real life?

Also, how could/did it backfire or go horribly wrong? I'm just looking for example of crazed tactics for a story I'm writing. The more heartfelt the better thanks so much.

Orvus agony auntHehe, I have a friend who did this once. It was the CRAZIEST THING I've ever seen someone do for love. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there listening to him while he did all these things.

He basically created a fake girl alter ego who pretended to be involved with the ex's new boyfriend. She ended up messing with the lives of everyone involved.

The story had lots of twists and turns. The whole plan was on the verge of being exposed on several occasions.

I once sent someone the complete story by email, as I remembered it. I still have it if you want it. It's rather long and I'm not sure if it would be alright to post it here because of what chigirl said, so PM me if you want me to send it to you. Trust me, it's great stuff.

With all do respect, I think you've come to the wrong site looking for these specific ideas. Besides, I'm kinda confused. You want "deranged ways" but ones that wouldn't break the law. If they're not breaking the law, kinda hard to see them as "deranged." Besides, the scenarios you are asking for, seems like it would't be something a writer should have problems understanding or coming up with ideas for.

just my two cents.

chigirl agony auntWell, it's not a good place to ask for bad advice you know. And breaking up a couple to get with your ex is a bad idea so I don't think anyone of us are good at giving advice that would just not be good advice... Thats really all there is to it.

If you want to be an author, a good one, and this I advice you since I am a fanfiction author myself, as well as I write originals.. you should seek out a forum for authors instead of a relationship advice site. There you can get inspiration as well as motivation and talk to other authors. There's tons of these forums on the web. Some places I've posted and visited are quizilla.com, fanfiction.net. From there on you can find other places and forums as well, I don't remember them all.

In addition, good writers have the imagination to come up with things themselves. You can get a push or be inspired by something, but you really need to think of your own thing for the story to float naturally. If you can't get into the mindset of your characters and imagine what they'd do, then you have a pretty flat and unrealistic and boring character. So think of something that suits your story. But this relationship advice site is not at all a good place for you to seek help on your writing... that's not the type of stuff we deal with here.

OMG, this is funny. Some of you people are are so paranoid. I really just want some ideas for how this character handles her deranged desire to get her ex back. I myself, in REAL LIFE, have NO ex's that I would ever consider hooking back up with so I'm having trouble thinking of "deranged ways" for her (the character) to get it done in the plot. If you would feel better, I can promise to post my "story" here when it's finished. Bad outcome and all. Incase you're affraid of someone else using your ideas for evil, they'll see the moral to the story also and hopefully derail their masterplan you help create by answering my request...ok? But if no one is comfortable with throwing some ideas my way out of fear I'm planning on implementing them to an actual situation then sorry to waste all of our time here. But you know, not everyone is nuts in this world. Some people actually do need ideas for stories with relationships in them. It isn't so farfetched to think to ask a relationship advice forum for advice regarding relationships. I must be a total weirdo. I'll just have to ask some one somewhere else. But thanks anyway.

chigirl agony auntSorry I don't have any good stories for you here, and thats purely because if you actually wanted an ex back, breaking up their current relationship wouldn't do you any good at all actually. It'd actually backfire at you pretty badly! Here's why:

Your ex wouldn't ever want to get back with a person who broke up a couple and is not mentally stable in that respect. Your ex WOULD figure out what happened to the relationship and who meddled (trust me, it's not that easy to camouflage), and last even if the ex never figured it out you'd always have to live with that knowledge yourself, knowing that you hurt someone you love so much, and that you tricked them and fooled them and manipulated them, and who does that to someone they love?

The very last point being that even if they did break up and it's not traceable back to you, then your ex wouldn't have you back anyway because if she wanted you back she'd not get into a relationship with someone else... So the result would only be that either you end up with her all casual until she finds someone better, or you're not in the picture at all and she'll just find another boyfriend again.

There's no way you can win in that scenario. If you want the ex back there are far better ways to go, and smarter ways too.
