Hey everyone! I know this is very early but I'm eager to get my best friend a present as soon as possible-but he seems to have everything already! He's got nice clothes, colognes, guitars, books by the thousands on his Kindle, and movies and music...It's very frustrating :/ He's very intelligent, kind, funny, and warm-He's been an amazing friend and getting him a card or gift card isn't an option. He is South American, loves techno/house music, objects of sophistication, good "beverages" and dislikes the cliche, overly cheap, plays and pop culture. If anyone knows of an amazing cologne or wine/champagne, I can work with that too :p Thank you in advance! Really and truly appreciate any and all suggestions!

CindyCares agony aunt You can never go wrong with a classy scent , I suggest Bulgari or Prada. For something less mainstream, Lancome, Hermes and Armani have perfumes in numbered, limited editions, only available in their Paris and Milan boutiques, but you can order them through Internet.

Or, you can have an unique ,personalized essence created for him, it's much less costly than you expect and he would have something absolutely individual. Of course it would be easier if you lived in Italy or France where you can go personally to the perfume atelier, but I know that several firms offer this personalized service on line ,a bit of googling will give you the names.

Yeah give the gift of an experience! Like find a cool house dj, like deadmau5, to bring him to see. Id love that. Heck, even get a signed photo of his fav dj off ebay and frame it! Collectibles are cool too esp if he loves music. Or comedy show, or a book signing for one of his fav books, etc. I once, and this is kinda lame, dated a girl who was obsessed with wikipedia and so I made her her own wiki page with her name and all the things and interests I knew about her. The page got deleted but she was blown away!

Odds agony auntCerberus is right. Same advice I give any guy looking to get a gift for a chick, is to give an experience.

Get two tickets to a good show (concert, circus, improv comedy, boxing match, whatever works for him). Or spend a day at the beach taking surfing lessons. Go camping. Anything that he doesn't do every day - preferably something you are familiar with and can be comfortable doing with him.

The best present I ever got was good memories. Seriously, create a day/night of just crazy fun that he'll never forget and that's a better present than anything you can buy in a shop. Take him to dinner and a rave or concert. Go somewhere new and do something fun. A roadtrip to some beautiful place and grab a picnic or go fishing. Do something you know he'll like but hasn't been able to yet, or gotten around to it, even if it's just to get away from it all for a few hours, or if he loves being around people set up a surprize party or something.

Cologne gets used up, a bottle of champagne is gone in a night.

Seriously I prefer happy memories over some object any day. There is nothing more amazing a gift to me than a friend putting some time and effort into making a fun day doing something different with them.

Personally I don't care much for standard physical gifts, unless it's something really special that a person has put their heart and soul into making or getting.

I'm not hard to please haha I just prefer the effort more than the price and when someone has dedicated time and effort to giving me the gift of a day of relaxation and fun, then that's the best.
