It could be caused by difficult life circumstances (everyone will experience at least some temporary depression in their lifetimes and it's normal). but you said you can't pinpoint a cause for it. So it could be biological based - changes in body chemistry or hormone levels. It could be genetic and only now is your life situation such that it got triggered. or it could be due to "deep personal secret" that you feel too ashamed of to admit even to yourself, and which are getting triggered by some life situation now. You should see a counselor or therapist. some times, "talk therapy" alone can help significantly. Other times you may need anti-depressants in conjunction with therapy.

Taking care of yourself should help to fix this emotions you're feeling. Get a new up do, go shopping for some new clothes, work out and get together with some friends for a night our and look your BEST! Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend!Hope it helps!

I feel like this when I'm eating badly and not exercising. As soon as I started drinking more water, going to the gym and cutting out bad sugars I felt a WHOLE LOT better. Also if you're a person who procrastinates often, this can cause stress and mental unrest.

You need to see someone asap. You sound depressed and act now before it gets deeper.

Sounds like you are suffering from depression, however I'm not a doctor and can't really diagnose you.
Self isolation is pretty typical for people with depression.
Go see your doctor, maybe you need to referral to see a therapist or maybe even some meds for a shorter or longer time. Also, sun light (even "fake) and exercise can help your mood.
