writes:I need some advice please..I came out of a long term relationship last august and its all most been a year and i think i am now ready to go and meet some one new so me and some friends are going out on the weekend (first time i have been out propley since my relationship as i was too scared off seeing my ex) I know im ready as i saw her today and i felt fine for the first time :)So my question is whats the best chatup line or what would impress a girl in a bar i may meet??? Its been a while since I have done this so need some help... Thanks :D

reader, anonymous, writes (18 May 2009): Always be yourself, chat up lines never work unless you get the right kind of girl with a good sense of humor, as we all know chat up lines are pure cheese and your likely to get laughed off if using them.
Best plan in my opinion is to try and catch the eye of a lovely lady and offer to buy her a drink, if she tries to catch your eyes as well, then start up a conversation and generally take an interest in what she has too say, this works a lot better if your in a bar, easier than screaming a conversation in some club.
I'm pleased for you that your over your ex, a break up of a relationship is never easy, especially one thats gone on for so long at such a young age. So just enjoy the weekend.
If your going to use a chat up line at all theres loads of funny ones online, but if your going to use them, use them in a jokey manor, then you can laugh together rather than being laughed at.

You are your own best asset! And if that does not work,,,try comedy. The best line(and still very workable) is complimenting a woman's eyes. and to use comedy with it...its gold.
Such as......
"Your eyes are delicious, when may I feast on them again"?
Corny? Yes
Funny? Maybe
A memorable first impression? Mission accomplished.

"Are you having a good night?" is a good one as it's not creepy and pervy.
Then you can ask her name, give her yours, ask if she's here with her boyfriend, if she says she's single then act suprised as a girl as gorgeous as her can't possibly be single.
Ask if you can buy her a drink, but make sure you let her keep the drink in sight at all times, don't just disappear off and produce a vodka and coke. (We girls have to be aware that you could be spiking it, no offence.)
Then just chat, ask her questions, what does she do? etc etc etc.
If it goes well and you get a snog then walk her to the taxi rank at the end of the night, make sure you get her number and arrange to meet up again soon.
Don't be tempted to go home with her.
Text her once she's gone and tell her again how great it was to meet her and how you can't wait to see her again.
Then the first date is up to you!

reader, anonymous, writes (18 May 2009): I would say be yourself, get a good conversation going, have a laugh and have fun. I personally dont think girls are impressed by chatup lines - I maybe wrong but thats my opinion. I always think its best if they know you for being you - no surprises then!
