 Well GOOD LORD! I've never heard of "smart casual" - but, I will take into account that you're in the UK and that could make me a little more out of the loop.
Here is my dress code suggestion: LBD. Little Black Dress. It never fails, it's always appropriate, always sexy, but always classic.
