reader, anonymous, writes (7 February 2008): I understand this is a huge deal at your age because your friends at school are getting it and you are not. It feels like they are more woman than you. I've been there. I got mine at 13 and yes it's normal. My mother got hers at 12, my sister at 11 and one of my friends at 14, and one of my mother's friend at 17! You know how I got mine faster? I started eating a lot because I was super skinny and in exactly two weeks I got it. There's no magic to it but it worked for me because I felt sooo much left out. Getting your period has to do with genetics and with the amount of body fat you have. That's why it worked for me when I started eating more.

reader, anonymous, writes (7 February 2008): my god, you're only 12 girl, why are you worrying? You're not exactly old are you? Relax, because when you do start you'll miss that time when you didn't have to worry about blood and cramps and tampons etc... lol.
