For me as a teenager I had a couple of boyfriends, thought I 'loved' them but it was all just stupid teen puppy love.
I however have found someone in which I know I will be together for a long time, if not for the rest of my life. It's strange I never believed in finding 'the one', I always thought I'd have several relationships and would find someone when I was older, but when you find someone who you relate to so well and those feelings come about, you kinda just know. It's hard to explain the feeling of such thing.
I guess I can at least say nothing makes me happier than being in the arms of my boyfriend, or even curled up on the couch together playing mario kart, just having that person who you can trust will be there and think your amazing no matter how you look or how you act or what you do. The love between two people who are so close in that way is really something special, if you're lucky enough to find the right person, makes you feel really secure, warm, and well loved!
And not only am I in love, but he is also my best friend, that person is there for you, for emotional support through anything.
I hope you find it one day, because I believe love is the greatest thing on this planet.

It's not bad. Love is a wonderful thing. Not the only wonderful thing, not by a long shot, and not even for everyone, but it works.
That said, it's a bit different for everyone, and I strongly believe there's a big difference in how men and women perceive it (can't speak for gay folk on that one, though). You'll know it when you see it - so long as you remember that it's not enough to love someone, they have to love you back; it doesn't count until then.
Be patient, enjoy everything that happens between now and then.
