natasia agony auntbut just ... are you really sure you want to do this? If you can't bear to look at the scan now, I don't mean to make this harder for you, but after you have had the abortion it might drive you crazy wishing you had. I am only speaking from my experience.

Your boyfriend has gone, is rejecting you totally, and you have two small children. I know you must feel very alone right now, but I wonder whether you could talk to someone about it. I feel so sorry for you, and also facing all this alone. Well, email me if you want to talk.

natasia agony auntI had a friend who had an abortion with the pills, which is what you would have as early. The earlier the better.

She went for an interview/meeting at the clinic, and they checked her out and gave her the pills. You don't have to look at the scan if you don't want. She took one there, came home (about an hour) and then it started - she had about 3 hours of severe cramping and being sick, then it all came out, she fainted, and then had a heavy period for a month.

person12345 agony auntAt 5 weeks they may give you the option of a drug-induced abortion, which many women prefer as they can do it in the comfort and privacy of their own home on their own timeframe, and you wouldn't have to deal with religious nuts harassing you at the door to the clinic.

They will do blood tests to make sure you truly are pregnant, and they will ask you a series of questions to make sure you're in a good state of mind to make the decision and that you're choosing abortion of your own free will. They will also take a medical history and many clinics will offer (some require) counseling. They will do an ultrasound, but a good clinic will not force you to look at the image.

With a drug-induced abortion, you will be given two pills to take with detailed instructions. Many women experience nausea and/or vomiting as a side-effect, though they can prescribe you something to assist with that (the medications they have for this are very good at eliminating this). Many women experience cramping, some of the time it can be severe. You will experience what feels like a very heavy period over the course of several hours up to several days.

I very strongly second not letting anyone let you feel bad for doing this. It is not their body nor their life.

I totally support your deceission. I think ,it is more responsible not to bring a child in an unsbatle enviroment, and even if you are doing your best, you don't have the support right now.

I think abortion is a very basic medical procedure , and you will be ok, in no time. Just get some emotional support. Best wishes..

At the number of weeks you are, the termination will be via a number of pills, not surgical. I had a surgical termination because I was past 9 weeks so I cant comment much on that.

You need to get refered by your GP to a marie stopes clinic. At the clinic they will do a scan before hand, they wont let you see it, although i can imagine they would show you if you asked. They do a finger prick blood test and ask you if you want to know if it's multiples or not. They will ask you if you want any councilling. Although I declined, I think councilling should be mandatory for everyone as it was quite a stressful thing to deal with the weeks after; I do not regret it. People often mix up sadness with regret.

Look on the marie stopes website for more info, there is a 24/h helpline you can call also. Remember, that this is your decision and one you have to live with. Dont let anyone push you around in regards of keeping it or not. Dont let anyone make you feel ashamed.

A reader, anonymous, writes (19 June 2011):

I have had an abortion. Basically what happens is I went in, and someone talked to me about the process and asked me some questions. They did an ultrasound to see if I was pregnant and guess how far along I am. Then they basically went in and scraped the lining of my wall. I had some sedation, but was awake. It didn't take very long, and I felt some cramping, but that was about it. Afterwards, I sat in a room for a bit to let the sedation wear off and so they could monitor me. I had a bit of a bad reaction to it, so I was throwing up for awhile, but most people were fine. And that's about it.

This is a very big move and you need to get the necessary support as well as information from medical people in the know. So my advice is talk to your doctor and they will put you in touch with the right people. Possibly some counselling too if you feel you need it.

They do a scan but it's turned awAy from you so you can't see it. Then you go to another room and a woman gives you two pills which u have to stick wither side of your mouth above ur teeth Inbetween the lip and go home and keep the pills there and After half an hour swallow them. Then you will probably throw up so wath out .
