Now after 5 months of dating i don't even exist around him, he'd rather just have me in the background while he watches tv, hangs out with his friends etc. As soon as we go out he's veryy over-protective about me, he knows exactly where I am, what i'm doing etc. I just don't understand is this how guys are? When i'm around him in the house i barely exist, and as soon we go out he's holding onto me to make sure no one hits on me. Also in the beginning we use to have sex 4-5 times a day, and now its down to barely once a day minus foreplay. This is my first relationship and I've talked to my bf about this, he doesn't get it, he thinks I'm over reacting.

You are not over reacting. You shouldn't let your boyfriend treat you like that. He can either treat you nicely or he should just forget it. He cant be nice and then nasty the next minute. If i was you i would talk to your boyfriend and tell him exactly what you think if he doesn't listen to you then you should finish it and then he will see what he is missing?
good luck,
