 I dont know who has told you that 'most' guys like red heads - that is nonsense. Hair colour is only a tiny part of attraction, and if the girl has a good body, nice eyes, great smile and is confident - then the hair colour is not going to make much difference unless it is bright pink!
All men have slightly different tastes in women - some guys like blondes, some like brunettes, some like red heads....there is no way that anyone can say what 'most' guys like because everyone likes different things.
In America I think blondes are popular purely because it is the classic 'all american girl' look - the blonde hair, blue eyes etc. But look at female celebrities - you can see there are a huge variety of women who are attractive to men. Look at Megan Fox - millions of men love her, she is brunette. But then again Cameron Diaz is loved by millions of men too. So you cannot say there is one hair colour that men like more than others - it depends what the rest of you looks like too!
As for red heads - well to have red hair this is quite rare (in terms of genetics it is harder to have a red-headed child) so there are not all that many red-heds out there. But look at Christina Hendricks from Mad Men, she is stunning and she is very popular with men at the moment. But not really for her hair - more for those amazing boobs and fantasitc, womanly curves.
Dont worry too much about your hair colour, if the rest of you looks good then hair wont be that much of a big deal! All men have different types, so there will be plenty of guys out there that like red heads, dont worry.
