We were talking about relationships etc and he says he seems to get trampled on cos he wears his heart on his sleeve... what does that exactly mean... and does that mean he will be needy and too much? (not into that!)

People who wear their heart on their sleeve means that they show their emotions and feelings and do not hide it.
A lot of people put up their guards and will not show their feelings to protect themselve.
I use to wear my heart on my sleeve but after gettting burned and hurt, you realize it is not a smart thing to do.
people see that and instead of appreciating the realness, they take advantage because they know your weakness.
for a guy, I don't know if its a good thing because we a programmed to love Strong Men who can control their emotions. so when a guy does this, it could be a turnoff. but it all depends how you feel about it. I bet he's a nice guy so give him a chance. just don't hurt him purposely.

Literally taken it means hes open with his feelings and in this case he feels that has lead to him getting hurt. As well as what Pippi said it might be his way of telling you he has had some bad experiences; it doesnt necessarily mean he's needy it's more him saying 'please dont hurt me'.

It means he shows his emotions and feelings without keeping them to himself, which is a good thing really. Maybe he has told someone in the past how he felt towards them and they weren't ready for anything serious.

It means that he tells you how he feels instead of playing games with you. I don't think it means he's needy, just that you'll always know where you stand with him.
