He said 'I love you' and stupidly, I've now said it back. I think I do love him, but as a friend. I'm not IN love with him.We are so opposite, in nearly every sense, and I need to end it. But I've never had to break up with someone before, and frankly, I don't know how. He's a nice guy, and preferably I would want to try and be friends still. How do I break up with him? What do I say, or at least, how do I start it off? I think I'll know what to say once I've started but I don't know what I should say first. ANY advice/help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Here's an opener: tell him that he's a nice guy but it's not working out between you two, and that it's best if you see other people.
Good luck.
