A male Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hello all, I've been in a LDR with my gf but the problem is that her parents won't let her date for a number of reasons because of this we never get to be together and spend every waking moment texting. Recetly her parents have even began limiting that time as well. Her parents have agreed to meet me and see if I am bf material but they haven't decided when and where and don't bother disscusing it at all. I've asked her to disscuss it with them so we atleast have a chance at being together but she won't and has called me a "pussy" for not being able to wait for them to find time. I feel so depressed and hopeless but I'm always going to end up going to sleep and waiting even longer for something I have no control over. Please help I have no idea what to do at this point (kinda the reason I'm here)

A female reader, tennisstar88 United States +, writes (22 August 2010):

tennisstar88 agony auntI would surprise them by calling their house talking to her parents and setting up a convenient time for them to meet you. That will show your maturity to date their daughter. Unless she's under 16 then they shouldn't be telling her she can't date. Must be those type where no one is good enough for their daughter. So have your goals in mind, if your attending uni, what is your major and minor, and what colleges your applying to, your GPA, favorite classes etc, your parents, and what they do for a living, be calm and yourself. Do what I suggest and that will get your foot in the door, now hopefully you be in!
