why don't you ask him what his favorite food is for lunch. Than suprise him with it in two weeks. Saying you have something special for him, and to meet you.
Who is his favorite author, or what types of books or magazines does he like to read, and go out of your way to look some up that he will like.
Any person wants to be made feel special, so why not take the effort to get to know him, and act on it.

I don't know if all guys are this way but my ex liked to hear me tell him how he affected me. Like when he hugged me, I felt safe and he'd smile when I said so. Or if he was looking amazing, I'd say something like, "Wow..." lol I couldn't articulate well around him sometimes. But, you don't have to break out Shakespeare with guys, men are more doers than communicators. So, like Tennisstar said, action works best. Wrap your arms around his neck, kiss him lightly. Smile at him. Hug him close. If he does something pleasing, don't be scared to tell him. If he looks amazing, tell him so.

Compliment him, I like to compliment my husband if he smells good, or if he looks ravishing in sweat pants, give him lots of affection but not too over the top. If he has hair, they like a good scratch. I believe it's more about actions they tend to speak louder than words.
