SirenaBlusera agony auntUncle Phil is right, but you have to remember that even the pinup models have their flaws... but as ideal as they appear, they're humans, not goddesses, and they also have more airbrushing and retouching than the rest of us. :) We all have our imperfections.

I'm a female, and I've never given birth. To be truthful, I would be sad if I developed stretch marks. However, I am sure that there are treatments. It's normal to feel extremely self-conscious, but just because you have a physical imperfection does not mean that you aren't attractive, or that no one will ever be attracted to you.

I'm a skinny, young little thing that hasn't given birth and I have stretchmarks on my upper thighs, honestly I would rather not have them but I don't really worry about them too much.

I use bio oil on them, with regular use they do look less noticeable.

Everyone has imperfections, most people are too worried about their own flaws to notice yours, and to the people that matter - those imperfections don't make the slightest difference.

Average Man looking at naked woman.."Hey she's got boobs and she wants to have sex with me"

Average woman naked and looking at man.. "Are me boobs ok, damn I look fat, I hate me stretch marks, I don't want to have sex.."

Average Man looking at naked woman.. "Hey she's got funny marks, wow.. she's got breasts, she got lovely titties, her vagina is cute.. I wonder if me dick is to small."

Average woman puts on her clothes..

Average man thinks "What the hell did I do wrong.. shit, she had some lovely boobies, she had a lovely pussy cat... what can I do to get her to take off all her clothes so I can see them again. SEX, SEX, SEX..."

He won't notice the fat, the stretchmarks or the spots.. The average guy is stupid, he just thinks about sex, it's only women that get worried about these things. Feel insecure in women's company, but with a man, be confident and strut your stuff, he doesn't bloody care.....

A female reader, DoodlePixie United Kingdom +, writes (22 September 2008):

Thing is its not just pregnant or even large people who get stretchmarks - i've got terrible stretchmarks that i started getting at the age of 12, simply from growth spurts. I've never been big yet even my mum has stated she's never even seen a pregnant woman with marks as bad as mine.

From a female perspective i think they're horrible, they make me so self-conscious and i hate the thought of other people seeing them. Yet again my boyfriend isn't bothered by them at all.

I think everyone views them differently but you'd be surprised just how many girls and women have them.

Indeedy Uncle Phil.. nothing more to say to that, except to recommend coco butter, or this new marvelous "bio oil" that I've been hearing a lot of... Use these on your beautiful pregnant body and they should minimise the marks... I also have ton's of aromatherapy recipes, but I don't have time to go into here and they are very, very expensive.

A reader, anonymous, writes (22 September 2008):

I have stretch marks down from my neck onto my chest from having two children very close together. It doesn't bother me and no one has ever even commented on them although you can quite clearly see them. I usec creams and baby lotions through both pregnancies but I can still see them clearly. I am very tiny so maybe the weight affected my skin more. Friends have told me rubbing bio oil in actually reduces them considerably. My husband has never said a word about them. Although I can see them and notice them especially in the summer it doesn't bother me and actually makes me feel quite proud as I feel they almost celebrate me being a mother. They are natural and absolutely nothing to be bothered or upset about and shouldn't make anyone feel self conscious in any way.

A reader, anonymous, writes (22 September 2008):

Well, i also have stretch marks and yea they are embarrassing but i've gotten used to the fact that i have them and so does my bf. And i think that men don't really mind women who have them, just as long as you have the confidence. They certainly don't disrupt the sex, so why worry. Just relax and enjoy, don't remind yourself that you have stretch marks during sex as it may ruin the moment of pleasure.

A reader, anonymous, writes (22 September 2008):

They're a bit unsightly sure enough, but no more so than a bloke with a beer gut or man-boobs. That said, unless they were caused by being massively overweight, they are a sign of a mature woman who has contributed to the population explosion and are completely natural.

Pin-up models and the like look great, but they've obviously never given birth!

As an aside - my other half is a mother but doesn't have any stretch marks. She avoided them by liberal application of baby oil as soon as she started to swell up, she put it in the bath, after a shower and doused herself with the stuff regularly throughout the day. And it worked.
