A male United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I see nothing wrong with it as long as the one that is married to the two or more is spending equal time between them and not playing favorites or compairing each other or trying to force one to act like the others. In other religions or cultures this is acceptable. Even in the bible there are many instances that it was acceptable. My wife and gf agree like me but this country doesnt allow it.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 November 2009):

Hi, I am the woman in the relationship. I was born catholic and my husband Mormon. I met him in college and we NEVER would have seen our selves living the way we are today. We moved to Idaho 15 yrs ago and met a couple who we became friends with. After 2 yrs we found out they had 3 wives. We both found it very hard to understand their views until they let us into their home and seen them all together , the love they share for each other. Our male friend offered to introduce to a lady and told us to just try it out we did but she just wasnt right for us. In the beginning we thought that maybe we were more suited for swinging and got involved in that for several months but we realized that we wanted the love aspect not the sex. Adventually we found a women that best suited us and it just grow from there. There are now 5 other women and 11 children in our wonderful family. We have jobs, our children are in many after school activites, We dont live on some made up village like you seen in tv shows like "Big Love" or movies. We wear normal fashioned clothed, I go to a gym, tan and love to hang out with my other firends. If you seen me at the park with my children we are no different then any other family there.

This is a PERSONAL CHOICE that isnt for everyone, but it does suit us. I feel having a law against what makes us happy is stupid and stero typing all of us liek we are horrible people which is not true.

People shouldn't be so quick to declare that "the men" have such an unfairly good situation in polygamous societies.

Everyone remembers the one man in the village with 5 wives. Nobody remembers the other 4 men (which is 80% of the total men) in the village with no wife at all.

Its illegal in australia.

Man and Women are two halfs and only together are they whole.

So having more than one wife unbalances everything.

Every woman who has been interviewed that is in this kind of marrige says the same thing.

They are lonely and feel neglected.

Meet the right girl and she will be enough

DoubleM agony auntIllegal in America. What more to know? But if your wife does not mind you having a mistress (girlfriend), then what is the problem? You simply cannot legally be married to both of them. You can legally live with five or a dozen women in America if everyone agrees, but legally marry just one.
