 Hey there,
I think it would be just great if you initiated a second date. Remember, not all guys are up front about things - they can get nervous too! Just say something like, "I had so much fun with you last week (or whenever your date was). I'd love to get together again!"
And if he replies positively (i.e. "yeah, great!). Make it formalized by saying: "wonderful. It's a date!"
On the first couple of dates I prefer going places where you can talk and get to know each other. Maybe do something fun like go to the zoo or the arcade (nothing is more fun than playing games and then winning each other prizes). Go to dinner somewhere neither of you have tried before, or try a new kind of food like Thai or Greek or Indian!
If you do something fun together, you're creating memories. Have a good time and just focus on getting to know each other.

 I glad your first date went ok, hard part out the way, now you can look forward to the second date. Im not against girls asking guys out, infact i think its a good thing. But you have only just had your first date, how did you leave it when you departed, did he say he will call you?. I would not appear to keen, like don't call him the next day, give it two or three days, but im sure he will have been in touch with you by then anyway, if he is not then you can call him. Im don't know what you did on your first date, but on the second date you could go to the cinema, you could go out for a bite to eat. Or going to a theme park could be fun.
