I know he feels the same way about me as I do with him but I dont know how to progress the situation I am too shy to ask him out.

Hello Nicola,
If you're not ready to ask him out, as in a date, then why don't you suggest just getting together for lunch and going out to grab a bite to eat together. This way you two can talk away from coworkers and get to know each other better, and it won't be an actual "date" -- it will just be two coworkers grabbing a bite to eat. People do that all the time, you know? Maybe the relationship can build up from there.
Take care.

Its very hard to try to chat with someone at work as the pressure of other people around.
Why not try emailing him and asking him if he fancies meeting up after work or something or meeting outside after work that way your not at work anymore and the pressure of other people is gone.
Good luck, keep my posted :o)
