Obviously, my friend told me all about this, but he still doesn't know that I know he likes me. It's rather confusing. We've been hanging out as friends, both of us knowing the other likes us but neither of us wanting to take the next step incase it ruins the friendship we've formed. I really want it to become official. What should I do?

if he's already said he likes you, you have nothing to lose!
If you need some confidence before you ask him out, why don't you do a group activity, or go for a drink. therefore if for some slim chance it messes up, you can easily escape.
if he says he likes you, you have nothing to worry about though.
