I would buy him a nice card and a leather "friendship" bracelet. They're not expensive and the meaning behind it goes a long way. Buy yourself one too and get him to put yours on your wrist and you put his on. Keep them on as long as you're together. ;o)

Maybe not nessicerilly a gift, but instead you could go out to a movie or whereever. Maybe you could treat him and pay for everything. If you two are intimate and comfortable, maybe you could write him a sweet note telling him that no object could express your love, or something similar.
keep in mind hes probably wondering what he should do for you, so maybe you could decide together to, like I said before, just go on a date or something like that thats a gift for both of you.
If you still want to get him a present, then think about his hobbies. If he likes video games, consider something like that (remember you could get accessorities for things he already has too). What about something for his room like a poster? Maybe a book. What kind of music does he like? If theres a cool concert (or another type of show) coming up you could buy both of you tickets. If he has a particular movie hes been talking about but doesnt own it, you could get the dvd.
There plenty of things that would be nice that arent nessicerily cutesy pink and heartfilled valentines specific gifts you could go with, just add a V-day card and that'll do it.
You could also go the route of some clothing or accessory and mention how sexy he'd look in it. but personally I think the non-material things like poems and love notes are the most meaningful...but then again thats only in a more emotional relationship. Don't be afraid to ask him too. (he might be relieved to get the oppertunity to ask you too)
Good luck!

Hi, if it is your first valentine together and you haven't been going out long, get him a valentines card (without bears in it).
You do not want to embarrasse him by going to strong on gifts.
If the weather is good why not treat him to a nice picniq or to be more traditional, you can always buy him a box of chocolates, which you can both share. Even Tescos are doing some heart shape choc boxes.
You can buy him a chain with his star sign but it is the intention that counts.
I am sure that all he wants is to spend the day with you, laughing, having fun in your company.
Enjoy the day
