Ah the plateau! My mum hits those and gets so depressed when she starts to diet.
Basically your body strives to stay the same and not change. There is a scientific word for it but I can't remember it. So it's adapted to living with your diet and changed your metabolism or done something so it retains all the fat reserves it has built so carefully.
Rather than think about weight loss pills you just need to kick your lifestyle up a gear so your body doesn't know what hit it. If you have been doing gentle exercise, then that is great but I bet your level of fitness has gone up enough that you could do something a bit more advanced. Don't do running as the weight will hurt your knees and cause you problems. Do something "none-impact" like swimming or cycling. If you don't want to up your exercise then up your diet.
Why not consider the atkins or edwards or even the cabbage soup diets? These are great as they really are a shock to the system but you can ONLY DO THEM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS as they cut out a lot of the vital vitamins you need (and have side effects like making you smell a bit after too long). They will be enough to kick your body off the plateau though and then you can go back to eating healthily and keep losing.
Again, well done on doing this, you have done brilliantly so far and I am sure you will do even better soon.
Good Luck!! xx

Diet pills dont work! I tried then at 13. Got them from a friends mom. The over the counter ones do not work and they but you at high risk for heart attacks.
The diet pills that you get from a doctor you can only get at 18 and they are even more unhealthy because they have speed in them so you are really hyper and dont have an appetite because you are high and speed is very bad and very addictive. Worst of all is that diet pills get the weight off fast but as soon as you stop taking them your weight immediately starts going back up.
My advice (coming from a girl who has tried every unhealthy thing ever to lose weight before giving up) is eat healthy and exercise. The number on the scale DOES NOT matter. As long as your body is healthy and your not at risk for health problems then who cares if you weigh 230 pounds. Just worry about your health and not your image.
I really hope that helps!

well maybe its the diet that you have been on? there are all sorts of diets out there and certain ones are tailored for you. have you tried weightwatchers? anyone i have ever met has lost loads doing that. curves is another great way to excercise cos you work on all parts of your body. you need to figure out where you have most of the weight and focus special excercises on them too - you need to make sure you excercising the right parts of your body. email me if you want to talk about this more. i just really think that pills arent the way to go, they can have really bad effects on your body and are usually full of laxatives etc, which are soooo unhealthy.

about a year ago I was 255lbs and 5'3". I've been doing the same diet and excersizing so now I'm at that 'plateu' I guess. like I lost 25lbs in 4 mos. and stayed the same and its depressing.

First of all, well done on getting healthy. Find out your healthy weight range and aim for that. Don't go too far though and make sure you are getting all the vitamins / calcium that you need as you are growing hips and breasts and all kinds of new bits and need to eat to manage that.
As for pills and supliments...
Anything that tells you that you can lose more weight by swallowing more things always sounds like crap to me.
There are some herbs that people say will boost your metabolism, but I really don't think there is any scientific basis for that claim.
If you eat celery it will fill you up but contains so little nutrients that you actually burn off more calories digesting it than it gives you.
Eat lots of fruit and things like Porridge and cereals that will fill you up.
There is no easy way to lose weight, you have to do it the hard way unfortunately, which is why there are so many fat people in the world.
Good Luck!! xx

i wouldnt recommend any weightloss pills - they can be very dangerous and have some side effects. if you are looking to lose weight, excercise and eating very well is the best and healthiest way. if you want. you could go to a dietician or GP and ask for a diet plan - what foods work best for you etc.
