My friend and I have been getting angry for some time. We used to be best friends. I could tell her and talk to her in everything. Now I feel like something in my life has gone. I want to be the same but I'm afraid that she doesn't think like me. How can I start a conversation? Please help. thank you

A reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2005):

It may never be the same but that doesn't say it can't be a close, warm friendship again. It will just take time. The wonderful thing about life is we all go through changes as people, as we progress through life. Every one has life experiences that influence these changes. It's all part of growth, as people. You both are progressing at different rates because you are different individuals with different life experiences. You may be at opposing ends of the spectrum right now but be patient..in time you'll meet in the middle again and resume a close friendship. Just give it time..but keep in touch with each other.
