writes: hi cupids, im abit scared as my periods have gone all weird :-S i lost my virginity to my boyfriend of 11 months who i love dearly on the 13th june, yeah friday the 13th! and it was an amazin experience, he made it so special and i will never ever forget it, but that was six weeks ago, my period was due on the 20th and it didnt come, i was scared, really scared, because i didnt bleed on my first time either, so my period didnt come, i didnt think i was pregnant, we used protection, and then i was due on on the 20th of this month and i didnt get it. so i thought id go buy a pregnancy test, better to be on the safe side right? so i went to the chemist and bought a kit took it home, and when i went to the toilet there was blood on the tissue. (this was about 2 o clock) but my 5pm it had finished, i got in the bath at half 9 and there wass still no sign of a period. its really strange, ive heard the best time to take the test is your first pee in the mornin, so im going to take the test first thing tomorrow mornin but im scared. we used a condom AND im on the pill!! i cant possibly be pregnant can i? im really scared. could there be another reason for my period not coming? please can anyone give advice who may have been in this situation before. x

well, it is possible but, having sex period can really mess with your period in many ways like rough sex can through of the ph balance rough sex can tell your uterous not to produce an egg all kinds of things. if you did use a condom and your on the pill your chances are in the high 90's your not there are no studies on using condom and the pill but condoms used properly are 97% and I think the pill is 95% so most likely your not.
but, your right the most accurate time is first thing in the morning. your body has several hours to dump everything that it doesn't need into you urine and your not moving around nearly as much so it has time to settle but, home test kits are looking for a specific hormone (it says on the package) and can give false positives and false negitives so, if it comes back as yes go to the doctor and get a blood test. (much more accurate)
I had a friend that got a false positive so she thought she was pregnant and told her boyfriend come to find out months later she wasn't he thought she lied and they broke up.

well i once had a period that lasted one day then once i had one that lasted 14 days thats due to me being on the implannon, but periods can vary all the time their mostly predictable but can be uncertain but since your odds where high it was likely an uncertain period..but no one blames you for being worried hell the first time i did it and i was in the same boat as you i worried like hell everytime we did it!!! hope that helps aphex xx

You even took a test, just to make sure. Boy, you sure put safety at the top of your list, and for that I admire you. You are a sensible young lady, and to you I take of my hat, and I've only done that once before.
Don't worry about the period thing as long as you know your safe. Your still growing, your periods are up and down, they will take a couple of years to settle. Some women always have irregular periods and it's nothing to be worried about. You have been very kind to update us on your situation, and we wish you and your partner all the best.
YIPPIE YOUR NOT PREGNANT, AND YOU CAN HAVE SAFE SEX AGAIN... :)

If you're stressed, it will make your periods come later. Plus, your menstrual cycle does not become regular until after the first couple years, believe it or not.
But RELAX, it's very unlikely that you're pregnant since you and your boyfriend doubled up on protection - you're on the pill and he used a condom. Now unless the condom broke while you guys were going at it, I HIGHLY doubt that you are pregnant.
If you're still unsure, take a pregnancy test and call your doctor or clinic.
All the best!

Hi there :)I wouldn't worry too much - at 16 to 17, your body is still developing (believe it or not) which means your periods may still jump around a bit. At nineteen, mine still do! There's such a low chance that you're pregnant but taking a test is definitely the right thing to do to put your mind at ease.Stress also puts a lot of strain on your body, meaning your periods can jump around a bit. Or maybe this one was just very light!DiovanLestat has provided you with some details for the NHS. I would suggest you call if you get really worried, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing to worry about. You're still growing, and late periods and other such things can just happen. Above all, don't worry. It's easy to jump to paranoid conclusions; we all worry. But considering the precautions you took, there's such a minute chance. Good luck :)The Lilac Pilgrim
