Maybe preservatives, alcohols and additives to adjust pH. Guess what...lubes are mostly the same exact stuff, just in different proportions. Chances are, you will have no problems and you dont need to live in fear of your intenstines exploding like some people here might have you believe. But I would reccomend getting a sex lube, even a cheap one, over using lotion. I've heard of everything from crisco, to butter to spit to hair gel to chap stick being used. Not that I would, but you dont hear about peoples jusnk falling off from them.
People tend to fear chemicals they dont understand.

 Bad bad bad idea! Don't do it again. Lotions are made for external use only. Read the warning. It could cause infection or even poison you depending on the lotion.
3 times in one day can be enough. Go to the store and get yourself some proper sex lube. There are plenty of good ones to choose from.
