 It could be he has feelings for you or it could be he is a very affectionate person, I would talk to him and ask him about it better to know where you stand and then you can go from there.

 Well he either wanted something which i doubt. But that he likes you.. Try and get in that situation again and if he does it ask him about it. If not if he brings it up then jus go for it. Good Luck.
