Hey

Me and my girlfriend both lost our virginity to eachother. Then the other day she told me that she has an STI with is not the Human Immuno Virus.

I have been to the doctors and i am free from STI's and in perfect health.

So i am wondering if she had to of slept with another guy and caught it off him. Or if she could of caught it off a public toilet or soemthing like that.

I worry becuase she is older than me and very attractive and i am well not. I know that she goes to 'wild' house parties and drinks lots but she always said she know what she is doing.

Am i worrying over nothing?

A reader, anonymous, writes (6 August 2008):

You can have STD even without sex. She could've caught it off of anything.

At the same time, its more likely or not that she had caught it off someone before hand who had it. Do you know which one it is? That way you can find out whether it is possible to have it before hand.

By the way, people who are drunk don't normally know what they are doing, thats the whole point of being drunk. They just think they do.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (6 August 2008):

it is possible that someone could get an STD without actually intercourse, but unlikely. You can't get an STD from a toliet seat. But I suspect that she was lying about being a virgin. Also, how much older is she? you are around 13-15. Is she only a couple of years older or several years older. Is it possible that she is taking advantage of you / using you?

Dude you have every reason to worry!

Does she get really dressed up and wear new perfume and stuff?

Do you have any friends that go to these wild partys? Cause if you do, you could ask them to watch her for you.

She could be loyal to you. But you don't catch a std off of thin air. Usually sexual intercourse is involved.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (6 August 2008):

What infection does she have? There are a whole a LOT of STD's besides HIV! Some of them, even though classed as STD's, can be transmitted in other ways.

It was quite responsible for her to tell you about this. If you two are going to continue being sexually active with each other you must take measures to prevent contracting the STD.

It sounds to me like adding sex to your relationship with this girl was not a good idea - I don't think the proper level of commitment and trust has developed yet.

Have you considered that perhaps she informed you of the STD, primarily as a way to break off the sexual part of your relationship?
