A female reader, Dorothy Dix Australia +, writes (13 February 2011):

Hi there. Is it really that important about how you met?

What's the big deal?

In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter at all.

You are together, and just so long as you are happy together, surely that's more important than how you met.

It serves no purpose to tell them this detail.

aunt honesty agony auntWell if you could explain a little bit more on what you lied about that would help. Im guessing that the right thing you can both do is be truthful to your parents. Yes the might be disappointed at first that you lied to them but they will soon be glad that you plucked up the courage to be honest with them.
