Go to your doctors surgery and ask for an emergency appointment with the doctor for emergency contraception. If you can't bring yourself to talk to the doctor, I believe you can get them straight from a pharmacy. You have 72 hours from the time you had sex to get the medication. It's the only thing you can do other than wait and hope. I feel I must point out that it is highly possible that you could become pregnant as men often leak ejaculate during sex, not just at the end of it. But in future, I recommend talking to your doctor about the options and if you're serious about this guy, perhaps get something a bit longer term with a higher sucess rate.

Good Luck!

Also your boyfriend sticking by you all the way is a good thing, he seems decent, just make sure in future guys you plan ahead before doing anything, you don't want to be in this situation again right?!

Wish you guys the best of luck x

b3x agony auntAs strange as it may sound, there are chances you can still get preganant, even if he didn't come inside you.

Where I study there was some research going on about pregnacy and if a girl could fall pregnant if her partner did have intercourse but did not ejaculate, it was found that some of the doctors where I study actaully found sperm in the fluid released during sex, prob known as 'pre cum' to you. Although this wasn't 100% acurate they did find in most cases active sperm was present.

For starters you didn't take into consideration and prepare for the fact you are starting to have sex, I don't want to sound like I am having a go honey but you need to think about these things, did you consider what contraception you were going to use? The fact that if you did go unprotected there is a risk of pregnancy and also catching and STI or and STD? Were you ready for sex or did it just happen?

Your prob pretty worried now, which I don't blame you for, I have been in a similar situation myself, I bet most girls have.

How long was it since you had sex? As the above post said you can get a 'morning after pill' It's name is kinda misleading as it doesn't have to be taken the morning after, its still effective for up to 72 hours. The earlier you take it though the more effective it is! Its not dangerous, however it is a powerful pill its prob the best option for you at present. You may feel a little sick once you have taken it, but things should settle down after a while. If you chose this option, you need to go to a chemist or your local family planning clinic, talk to a support worker there and they will go through all the procedures and the effects of taking this pill. Also talk to her about the fact you have started to have sex, they can also advise you different forms on contraception or at least one that suits you.

Now think about what you are going to do regarding your situation, I doubt you are pregnant, which is prob what you want to hear right now but you could have put yourself at risk of a nasty sexual infection. Don't be scared about it, you'll only make yourself feel worse! Maybe get your boyfriend to come with you, after all he was willing to have sex with you and I think you could do with the support!

Take care honey, I'm sure you'll fine, and these people who can help you are good at their job so take thier advice. Go make yourself a cuppa and watch a bit of friends! xx

A male reader, Ponungalungb United States +, writes (29 August 2006):

Ponungalungb agony auntThere's a pill called 'the morning after pill'. That might work if it's available to you. Otherwise, I guess you'll have to wait and see what develops, if anything. If you miss your period, then you should start thinking about what to do. In the future, if you plan on continuing to have sex with your boyfriend, you should see about getting some form of birth control. Good luck!
