A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I just started dating a new girl we really like each other and love spending time together but if were just having a conversation it gets kind of awkward because we don't know what to talk about and don't know too much about each other yet. Is this normal? What is the quickest way to get over this?

If you don't know too much about each other of course it's normal! You have no need to worry.

Just focus on getting to know her better and the conversation topics should start flowing as normal. If you go out with each other try and do something that would elicit an opinion from the both of you; just something simple like going to the movies can provide a topic and a window to get to know someone better.

Remember to change topics if the conversation starts to run out of steam and keep it fresh. I'm sure as you progress in the relationship things should straighten themselves up and just talking will be easier.

Yes it's normal. I think you should ask questions, to keep the conversation going and since you don't know much about each other.
